Fall Pumpkin Smoothie

The fall season is an ideal time for pumpkin recipes, including tasty pumpkin-flavored drinks. Pumpkin smoothie offers a delicious blend of fall spices and pumpkin flavor. The smoothie is a great fall seasonal creamy drink to enjoy during the cool fall season. 

Fall Pumpkin Smoothie 

Pumpkin smoothie is quite popular during the fall in the United States. It is a type of limited-edition smoothie that is often offered by many coffee and smoothie shops across the states for a limited time. The combination of the flavorful pumpkin flavors and the warm fall spices contributes to the popularity of pumpkin smoothies. Spices such as cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice are common fall spices for adding to freshly made pumpkin smoothies. The fall spices added to the smoothie enhance the fall flavor taste that is often associated with the comforting warm feel of fall. 

There are other varieties of pumpkin smoothies to try out. A variety of different fruit ingredients and spreads can be added to pumpkin smoothies. A variety of pumpkin smoothies include orange pumpkin, peanut butter, and pumpkin pie green smoothie. 


Pumpkin Smoothie 

Pumpkin smoothie is a smoothie that is typically made with pumpkin puree, milk, banana, yogurt, and fall spices. The blend of pumpkin puree, frozen banana, and yogurt helps to thicken the smoothie to a thick and creamy texture. Bananas are optional for this smoothie, though it is a fruit commonly added to pumpkin smoothies. The banana can also be frozen, though this is also optional. This adds a cool, creamy texture to the pumpkin smoothie. 

Dairy or plant-based milk works for pumpkin smoothies. I prefer plant-based milk for many drink recipes that I make at home. There are many plant-based milks that have unique flavors, such as almond and oat plant milk. I used oat milk and find plant milk personally tastes better than whole milk for smoothies, adding flavor to the freshly blended smoothie. 

Fall spices add an additional sweet and slightly spicy flavor to pumpkin smoothies. Allspice and nutmeg are common fall spices that are great to add to pumpkin smoothies. For this smoothie recipe, I used pumpkin pie spice and ground cinnamon spices. The blend of pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon adds a warm and sweet spice blend to this smoothie. 


Fall Pumpkin Smoothie Ingredients 

Pumpkin Puree: Mild sweet pumpkin flavor consisting of a creamy and smooth texture. Alternative pumpkin pie filling.

Banana: (Frozen Banana) Naturally sweet and soft fruit. Frozen bananas offer a creamy and cool texture for the pumpkin smoothie. 

Yogurt: (Vanilla Greek Yogurt) Sweet vanilla flavor with a creamy and smooth textured yogurt. Alternative: plain Greek yogurt.  

Milk: (Plant-Based Milk/Oat Milk) Mildly sweet, creamy plant milk. Any type of plant milk or whole milk can be used for this smoothie recipe.  

Ground Cinnamon: A common spice used in the fall. Cinnamon is a classic fall spice that offers a warm, sweet, and a hint of spicy flavor. Alternatives: allspice, nutmeg, or cinnamon extract. 

Pumpkin Pie Spice: A popular fall spice used in a variety of fall foods. Pumpkin pie spice offers a blend of sweet and spicy warm flavor. 




Fall Pumpkin Smoothie Instructions 

Banana

Freeze a banana. Frozen bananas can be stored in the freezer with or without peel. Store the banana in a freezer-safe bag or freeze the bananas whole, if unpeeled. 


Remove the bananas from the freezer. Thaw the bananas. (Frozen bananas can be hard to peel. Thaw the frozen banana for a few minutes prior to peeling.)

Unpeel and slice the frozen banana prior to adding it to the blender. 

Blending Pumpkin Smoothie

In a blender, add the pumpkin puree, frozen banana slices, and yogurt.

Add the milk, ground cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice. 

Blend until creamy and smooth.





Fall Pumpkin Smoothie and Natural Pumpkin Smoothie 
 
Different types of pumpkin smoothies offer a unique flavor and texture. The fall pumpkin smoothie is by far more popular than the naturally flavored pumpkin smoothie. The flavor and texture may differ between the smoothies. A natural pumpkin smoothie typically includes fresh pumpkin, a variety of fresh fruits, seeds, and plant milk, compared to the fall pumpkin smoothie that generally includes pumpkin puree, banana, yogurt, milk, and fall spices. Natural pumpkin smoothie may offer slightly more nutrients, while fall pumpkin smoothie may be more convenient, simple to make, and offer more of a fall-flavored drink enjoyed by many people. 


Storage  

Pumpkin smoothie is best consumed when made fresh. Though it can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Storing the smoothie for many days can spoil the smoothie. It is best to store the pumpkin smoothie in the freezer to extend the shelf life. Add the pumpkin smoothie to a freezer-safe container.

Pumpkin smoothie is a popular and flavorful smoothie in the states. It is a common smoothie that is often recreated during the fall season. Pumpkin smoothie is one of my favorite smoothies for its fall flavors and smooth texture. It is also a simple smoothie to make at home that includes warm fall spices and flavors.  

Recipe 

Ingredients 

  • 1 can pumpkin puree 
  • 2 frozen bananas 
  • 1 pack yogurt (5.3 oz.)
  • 2 cups milk 
  • 2 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon 
  • 2 ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice 


Instructions 

Bananas. Freeze the bananas. Remove the bananas from the freezer, then thaw. Peel and slice the bananas.  

Blender. In a blender, add the pumpkin puree, bananas, yogurt, milk, ground cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice. Blend until smooth.
